HC Deb 27 July 1964 vol 699 c224W
Sir C. Thornton-Kemsley

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what Exchequer expenditure is proposed in Scotland for the five years ending 1969–70 on trunk and classified roads, respectively.

Mr. Noble

In the five years 1965–70 it is proposed that Exchequer expenditure on the construction of new roads and on major improvements to existing roads should amount to £122.6 million. This figure will comprise Government expenditure of £71.7 million on trunk roads and motorways and Exchequer grants of £50.9 million towards the expenditure of local authorities on classified roads.

For the five years 1964–69 the comparable figures were £105.1 million, £61.4 million and £43.7 million respectively.
