HL Deb 22 July 1964 vol 260 c802WA
THE EARL OF MACCLESFIELD

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When, in view of the urgent need for new prisons, work on building the prison at Culham Airfield will begin, since delay in building this prison is causing serious complications for both city and county of Oxford.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, HOME OFFICE (LORD DERWENT)

Preparations are in hand, but I cannot yet say when building work will begin. The need to replace Oxford prison as soon as possible is fully appreciated.

House adjourned at twelve minutes before eleven o'clock.
