§ 40. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the number of foreign fishing vessels 76W which have been prosecuted for illegal fishing in Scottish fishing grounds during each of the last 10 years; and in respect of which fishing grounds they were prosecuted.
§ Mr. StodartEight foreign vessels have been prosecuted and convicted of illegal fishing within exclusive fishery limits off Scotland in the last ten years—one each in 1954 and 1957; two in 1959; three in 1962, and one in 1964. Four cases related to small lobster boats fishing off the Hebrides; three to trawlers fishing off the Inner Hebrides; and one to a vessel fishing lines off Shetland.
