Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action the Metropolitan Police have taken to arrest and charge the persons concerned in physically assaulting the constituents of the hon. Member for West Ham, North, on 20th April, 1964, details of which have been supplied to him.
§ Mr. WoodhouseI am informed by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that despite extensive inquiries the persons responsible for the alleged assault on the hon. Member's constituents on 20th April have not yet been identified. Warrants have, however, been granted on description for their arrest for an offence against Section 47 of the Offences against the Person Act, 1861.
