§ Mr. CorfieldThe Ministry of Public Building and Works index number of the average price of new houses for private owners was 138 for the first quarter of 1964 compared with 129 for the first quarter of 1963—an increase of 7 per cent. The figures on which the index is based include the cost of land and they cover only those houses on which building societies have advanced mortgages during the period.
