§ Mr. Gowerasked the Minister of Aviation whether he is aware that, during the past five years, expenditure from funds made available by his Department and devoted to capital facilities at civil airports in England has been 90 times as great as in Wales, that similar expenditure in Scotland in the same period was nearly 27 times as great as in Wales, and that during the post-war period prior to 1959 expenditure on such facilities in Wales was disproportionately small; and if he will authorise expenditure to provide Wales with airport facilities commensurate with its growing economic and industrial importance.
§ Mr. MartenI am aware that the expenditure in England and Scotland has exceeded that in Wales to the extent stated, but expenditure in England and Scotland has been predominantly on facilities at the main international airports which serve the United Kingdom as a236W whole. Expenditure at Rhoose, though much less, has been sufficient to meet the needs of the traffic.
