§ Mr. Delargyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will introduce legislation to make it compulsory for paint manufacturers to print on their containers either the formula of the contents or the dangers to which users might be exposed.
§ Mr. WoodhouseMy right hon. Friend the Minister of Health has recently reached agreement with the Paint Makers Association of Great Britain for the labelling of containers for paint with a lead content of more than 1 to 1.5 per cent. with the warning
Do not apply on toys, furniture or interior surfaces that might be chewed by children.The Lead Paint (Protection against Poisoning) Regulations, 1927, require that receptacles containing lead paint with a lead content of more than 5 per cent., to be used for the painting of buildings, shall be marked by the employer as containing lead. If the hon. Member has in mind some danger not covered by these arrangements my right hon. Friend would be glad to consider any proposals he may like to send him.
