§ 43. Mr. John Wellsasked the Secretary of State for Industry, Trade and Regional Development what was the revenue each year in the last 10 years from the import duty on bees; and if, in view of the importance of bees to the fruit growing industry, he will reduce or abolish that duty.
§ Mr. du CannI regret that the information sought in the first part of the Question is not available. The import duty on bees was suspended last Autumn and the suspension will continue throughout 1964. An application made by the National Farmers Union and the Honey Producers Association for the permanent abolition of this duty is being considered.
