§ Mr. Wolrige-Gordonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how, and to what extent, sprats caught for conversion to fish meal and oil are subsidised.
87W
§ Mr. NobleUnder the current white fish subsidy scheme the subsidy for boats of 60 feet in length or over is related to the length of the trip irrespective of the catch or the use to which it is put. Most sprats, however, are landed from boats of less than 60 feet and are eligible for a subsidy of 1s. per stone if sold for human consumption or 6d. per stone if sold for other purposes including conversion to oil and meal.
