Sir John MacLeodasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what study the Highland Transport Board have made of the amount of goods which have been transferred from British Railways to MacBrayne's Freight Services, with particular reference to the line between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh; what information they have given him on this matter; and if he will direct them to consider the extent to which a monopoly would be created should the rail services be withdrawn.
§ Mr. NobleThe Highland Transport Board are considering,inter alia, all questions relevant to the possible closure of the Dingwall-Kyle line but have not yet tendered advice to me on the subject. I do not, however, follow the hon. Member's suggestions about the creation of a monopoly.
