§ Mr. Spriggsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will provide a breakdown of agricultural subsidies, showing the totals paid to the farmers and the manufacturers of fertilisers for the years 1959–60, 1960–61, and 1961–62.
§ Mr. Scott-HopkinsSubsidies paid for fertilisers delivered to farms in the United Kingdom between 1st July, 1959, and 30th June, 1960, totalled £33.9 million. The corresponding figures for 1960–61 and 1961–62 were £32.7 million and £34.3 million respectively. The subsidy is payable to the farmer or, at his request, to the merchant from whom he obtained the fertiliser. There are no subsidy payments to fertiliser manufacturers.
