§ Mr. NobleThere is normally a small demand in Stornoway for fresh herring and there are facilities for various forms of processing. In 1963 2,993 craps of herring were bought at Stornoway for freshing and kippering, 833 crans for curing, 1,180 crans for freezing, and 357 crans for marinating; in addition 5,387 were bought for meal and oil.
