§ Captain Kerbyasked the Minister of Health if he is aware of the discovery, as a result of the recent cases at Smarden and Merthyr Tydfil, that plants 86W are able to synthesise fluoroacetates which later prove lethal to man and animals if ingested; and if he will reconsider the policy of fluoridation of public water supplies, in view of the possibility of plants being provided with foreign fluoride elements, thus promoting this lethal synthesis.
§ Mr. BraineMy right hon. Friend knows of no evidence that plants growing in this country can perform this synthesis.
