§ Mr. P. Williamsasked the Minister of Labour how many men were employed in the shipbuilding industry on the Wear in January, 1963, and in January this year; and how many men are expected to be so employed in July this year and in January, 1965.
§ Mr. WhitelawI regret that figures are not available for the month of January. It is estimated that there were 6,000 wage-earners employed in shipbuilding on Wearside in November, 1962, compared with 5,300 in November, 1963. It is not possible to give estimates of the numbers likely to be employed in the future in particular areas.
