§ Q5. Mr. Gordon Walkerasked the Prime Minister what reply he is making to the official proposal of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics for the physical destruction of bomber aircraft.
§ The Prime MinisterMy hon. Friend the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs indicated in Geneva on 30th January that we considered proposals on this subject suitable for discussion in the Disarmament Conference. I hope these proposals will bring closer the time when a start can be made on the physical destruction of armaments but the Soviet representative told the Press that his proposal means the destruction of all bomber aircraft by all countries and this is quite unrealistic.
