HC Deb 04 February 1964 vol 688 c136W
Sir Richard Glyn

asked the Minister of Education if he will state the increase in the number of school places of all kinds in the 12 years to the last convenient date; and what percentage this represents of the number of places available 12 years before.

Sir E. Boyle

Between 1st October, 1951, and 30th September, 1963, about 2,756,000 new places were taken into use at primary and secondary schools other than special schools. The number of places taken out of use in that period is not known, nor is the number of places available at any given date. I regret therefore that I cannot answer the second part of the Question.
