HC Deb 04 February 1964 vol 688 cc132-3W
58. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what plans he has for the disposal to the Government of former British Colonial Territories of the Colonial Office Library; and whether at present books are dispatched on loan to those Governments or to persons in their territories applying for them.

Mr. Sandys

The Colonial Office Library comprises a unique collection of historical material and it is not proposed to disperse it.

Books are frequently sent on loan by the Library to Governments, libraries and institutions overseas but not to individuals.
