§ Sir M. Galpernasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in order to help to remove one of the major deterrents to recruitment to the teaching profession, he will consider making provision for salary payment to graduates during the training period.
§ Mr. RossI am not convinced that the existing provision for awards under the Students' Allowances Scheme to graduates in training is a major deterrent to recruitment. I am, however, considering the whole question of teaching recruitment and have not yet reached a final decision on the suggestion to which my hon. Friend refers.
