asked the Minister of Transport whether he is yet ready to make a statement as to the establishment of a National Advisory Council on Road Safety.

Yes. My right hon. Friends, the Secretaries of State for Scotland and Wales, and I have decided to set up a National Road Safety Advisory Council with the following terms of referenceTo keep under review the road accident situation in Great Britain, and methods of accident prevention; to advise the Minister of Transport, and the Secretaries of State for Scotland and Wales, on those matters which he, or the Secretaries of State, may refer to them; and to consider and report on other matters which may appear to the Council to be of importance in relation to road safety. I am glad to say that Sir Alfred Owen has agreed to be Chairman. I will announce the names of the other members as soon as possible.
