§ Dame Irene Wardasked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, in view of the fact that national average earnings tend to confuse many wage and salary earners who earn less than the national average, whether, in his attempt to develop an incomes policy, he will seek to ensure that there is no reference to a national wage or salary.

Lady is no doubt aware, the methods of achieving the objectives set out in the joint statement of intent on productivity, prices and incomes are now being discussed with management and unions.
