HC Deb 21 December 1964 vol 704 c203W
Rear-Admiral Morgan Giles

asked the Minister of Transport when he expects to be able to give his decisions concerning the future of the Winchester-Newbury railway line, and on the construction of the Kings Worthy link road to by-pass heavy traffic passing through Winchester.

Mr. Tom Fraser

Following the arrangements I announced on 4th November about the future of the track on railway lines from which all services have been withdrawn, the Railways Board has asked me to agree to the disposal of track between Newbury and Winchester. I hope to reach my decision soon.

The effect of this decision on the design of the Kings Worthy Link Road will then be studied.
