§ 103. Commander Purseyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what new Cremation Regulations are contemplated; and when they are likely to be laid before Parliament.
§ Sir F. SoskiceI have recently circulated to the interested organisations proposals for some minor but useful amendments of the Cremation Regulations, including an amendment to enable the coroner's form E to be issued as soon as an inquest has been opened provided that no further examination of the body is required. These proposals have been generally welcomed and I hope to lay the new Regulations before Parliament early in the New Year. The question of medical certification before cremation is now within the terms of reference of the Inter-Departmental Committee on Death Certification and Coroners.
