§ Mr. Ian Lloydasked the Minister of Transport what study his Department has made of the comparative rates of development of rail-borne container traffic in the United States of America, West Germany, France and the United Kingdom since 1945.
§ Mr. Tom FraserMy Department has had discussions on the development of container traffics with the nationalised transport industries and with the Export Council for Europe. But studies of the kind described in the Question, and practical action to promote growth of container traffic, are mainly a matter for providers and users of transport, including the Railways Board. I have no doubt that they are paying attention to post-war experience abroad, in so far as it is relevant to problems in this country.
