Mr. Woodburnasked the Secretary of State for Industry, Trade and Regional Development whether he is aware of the deterioration in the employment situation in Alva, Clackmannanshire, and the need for replacement of former industry by new enterprise; and what action he is taking to attract new industry to the area.
§ Mr. HeathI am aware that four firms have closed factories in Alva recently. One is to be re-opened shortly by an Edinburgh firm. Details of the others are being obtained and the information will be available to interested industrialists.
