§ 70. Mr. Warbeyasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will request the Secretary-General of the United Nations to pay out of the voluntary Cyprus Fund established under paragraph six of the 4th March Resolution of the Security Council a United Nations supplementary allowance to British and other contingents serving under United Nations command in Cyprus, in order to bring their total emoluments up to a common standard.
§ Mr. ThorneycroftNo. Each national contingent is being paid in accordance with its own pay code. As I have explained to the House, the world-wide responsibilities of our own Forces preclude the payment of special allowances for particular duties.
