Decorwall, Wallpaper Manufacturers Ltd. Retail Division; and what action he is taking, following the refusal of the firm to meet the conciliation officers of his Department as requested by the union to bring the dispute to an agreed end.
§ Mr. GodberThis dispute arises from the dismissal of a union member employed as a shop manager in Coventry. My officers discussed the situation with a representative of the company last week. He told them that the company considered that the dismissal was justified and that the employee concerned had been informed of the company's reasons. The company is not prepared to meet the trade union. In these circumstances, I can do nothing to help bring about a settlement.
