§ Mr. MarplesApplications for grants under the Local Employment Act 1960 from north-eastern development districts for services within my responsibility have been as follows:
1960–61 1961–62 1962–63 1963–64 NIL 3 4 7 Twelve related to road works. Of these, four were approved, three rejected, two deferred by the local authorities concerned and three are under consideration. The total of grants issued is £31,108. The other two related to port schemes. One was rejected; in the other (Lackenby Dock, Tees-side) I have agreed to make a loan of up to £2,000,000.
