HC Deb 21 April 1964 vol 693 cc162-3W
Mr. Grey

asked the Secretary of State for Industry, Trade and Regional Development how many advance factories are in process of building in the North-East; how Many are still without tenants; how many are in contemplation, and for which districts; and what estimate he has made of the number of workpeople likely to be employed in them.

Mr. du Cann

No advance factories in the North-East are at present in the process of building, though two are being extended to meet the needs of tenants. Five factories are at present without tenants but discussions are taking place with interested firms. Two more at Blaydon and Chesterle-Street are to be built but construction has not yet started. The seven factories together should provide about 600 jobs.
