Thompsonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, in view of the fact that his grant-aid to the Workers Education Association for the year 1964–65 will enforce a reduction of their current programme due to increased costs, and of the importance of cultural education in an age of mass communication and the need for education for leisure, if he will now reconsider the size of the grant.
§ Mr. HoggI propose to increase the headquarters grant to the Workers Education Association in 1964–65 from £2,000 to £2,300. On grants to the districts I would refer the hon. Members to my reply to the hon. Member for Islington, East (Mr. Fletcher) on 9th April.
