Mr. Callaghanasked the Minister of Power if he will require the Iron and Steel Board to have regard to the national interest by examining proposals for providing centralised facilities for 233W importing and distributing iron ore in South Wales before they give permission for separate projects to proceed, and to furnish him with a report on the matter.
§ Mr. ErrollThe National Ports Council has been asked for its advice on the proposals for providing ore importing facilities in South Wales. The Iron and Steel Board is helping the Council and the Government Departments concerned in the examination of these proposals. I am satisfied that full regard will be had to the national interest before any project is allowed to proceed.
