HC Deb 27 November 1963 vol 685 c61W
7. Mr. Bence

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the shortage of school accommodation in the burgh of Kirkintilloch; what steps he is taking to overcome this shortage; and what representations he has received on this matter.

Lady Tweedsmuir

My right hon. Friend is aware that new school accommodation will be needed in Kirkintilloch, and has recently authorised the erection of temporary buildings at two schools. The authority will no doubt be considering the needs of the burgh in preparing their building programme which they are due to submit next month.

In addition to the hon. Member's representations, my right hon. Friend had communications earlier this year from the Town Council, the Dunbartonshire Local Association of the Educational Institute of Scotland and the St. Ninian's Parents' Association.
