§ Mr. MarplesAs I explained to the hon. Member for Barkston Ash (Sir L. Ropner) on 13th March, we examine78W the possibility of converting any railway line which ceases to be used into a road. But most of these lines are being closed because they carry little traffic, so that there should in fact be little increase in road traffic as a result. For technical reasons the scope for such conversions is in any case bound to be limited.
