§ Mr. Ainsleyasked the Minister of Power what information he has from the Durham division of the National Coal Board on the rundown of manpower affecting West Durham mines; and what facilities he will offer for redeployment and training of those redundant.
§ Mr. ErrollI would refer the hon. Member to the White Paper on The North East (Cmnd. 2206) which deals with the general prospects for mining employment in this region and also with the question of training. I understand that the National Coal Board's manpower plans for West Durham in 1964, as for the rest of the County, are now under discussion locally between the Board and the unions and I am asking the Chairman of the Board to write to the hon. Member about them.
