§ 73. Mr. Bottomleyasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a statement on the future of the 135W High Commission Territories of Basutoland, Swaziland and Bechuanaland.
§ Mr. SandysAll three Territories are now in varying degrees approaching the stage of self-government.
In Swaziland it is proposed to introduce a new Constitution on the lines indicated in the White Paper (Command Paper 2052) published last May.
In Basutoland and Bechuanaland local reviews of the Constitutions have recently taken place, and I expect soon to receive recommendations for further political advance.
