asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he will make a statement on the handing back of two airfields in Great Britain, by the United States Strategic Air Command, to the Royal Air Force; and whether these are to continue to be used for operational purposes.

As has already been announced, the United States Air Force will be returning the airfields at Fair-ford, in Gloucestershire, and Green-ham Common, in Berkshire, to the Royal Air Force by 1st July next year. The future of these airfields after they have been returned to us is still under consideration but a decision will be announced as soon as possible.
