HC Deb 20 November 1963 vol 684 c109W
Mr. Vosper

asked the Secretary of State for Industry, Trade and Regional Development, to what extent the powers of the Local Employment Acts, 1960, and 1963 will apply when Runcorn is designated a new town.

Mr. Price

When Runcorn is designated a new town, undertakings there will be eligible for assistance under the Acts to the extent that they provide employment for workers moving to Runcorn from Liverpool under the overspill arrangements, so long as Liverpool remains a development district. Projects in Runcorn likely to recruit workers travelling daily from neighbouring development districts will also continue to be eligible for assistance, as at present.
