asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress has been made in his discussions with the Prime Minister of Malta on the new constitution for Malta and arrangements for its independence.

The Prime Minister of Malta came to London for a confidential discussion with me ten days ago. I have no statement to make at present.
