§ Mr. Scott-HopkinsMy right hon. Friend has received no evidence that38W weed-killers used in controlling roadside vegetation have caused any serious harm to bird life. The Ministry of Transport, after consultation with the Nature Conservancy and with this Department, issued a circular to Highway Authorities about the use of sprays for this purpose, including a warning of the need to avoid spraying the hedge and immediate vicinity.
