HL Deb 14 November 1963 vol 253 cc204-6WA
LORD CONESFORD

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What information they can give the House regarding the proposal of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors to rebuild their headquarters in Parliament Square.

THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT (LORD HASTINGS)

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors have applied to the London County Council, as local planning authority, for planning permission to rebuild their headquarters. The Council have informed my right honourable friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government that, in view of the position of this building, they feel that they should not decide the application until Members of both Houses have had an opportunity of judging what is proposed. Arrangements have therefore been made for a model of the Parliament Square area, incorporating the proposed new building, to be on view in the Upper Waiting Hall from 15th to 22nd November.

House rose at a quarter before seven o'clock.
