§ 45. Mr. Awberyasked the Minister of Education if he is aware of the dissatisfaction expressed by many education 167W authorities regarding the suitability of the eleven-plus examinations, and the fact that ma ay retain them while others adopt a different method of measuring the educational capacities of children; and if he will consider the introduction of legislation to create a system which would be acceptable to and used by all authorities.
§ Mr. ChatawayLocal education authorities are best left to dicide for themselves how they should organise their secondary school selection arrangements, as part of their general responsibility for school organisation within their areas. It would not be appropriate to standardise methods of selection by legislation.
