§ 65. Mr. F. M. Bennettasked the President of the Board of Trade what has been the percentage increase or decrease of trade between the United Kingdom and South Africa during the last 12 months; and how the balance of trade has been affected.
§ Mr. GreenIn the 12 months ending April, 1963, compared with the previous 12 months, our imports from South Africa rose by about¼ a per cent. while our total exports to that country rose by 23 per cent. The favourable balance of visible trade, namely, the difference between exports valued on an f.o.b. basis and imports valued on a c.i.f. basis, was £63.8 million compared with £32.2 million in the previous 12 months.
