§ 54. Mr. Gourlayasked the Minister of Labour what notification he has received from the National Coal Board of redundancy at the Wellesley Colliery. Buckhaven; if he will state the numbers involved; and what proposals he has to find alternative employment for those affected.
§ Mr. WhitelawI understand there is to be a small concentration at this colliery in the near future which will affect about 140 men. Although it may not be possible to redeploy many of these immediately, few long-term redundancies are expected. Our local officers will assist any men who seek our help.
