§ Mr. SmithersIncidents on 4th and 5th May at Elisabethville are reported to have resulted in the deaths of five Africans and injuries to a number of others. No British subjects were involved. My information is that order has been restored and that there have been no incidents involvingArmée Nationale Congolaise soldiers in Elisabethville since 5th May. In Katanga as a whole, political and economic progress is being maintained.
