HC Deb 14 May 1963 vol 677 c144W
Mr. Forrest

asked the Minister of Power what progress has been made in reducing the cost of power produced by atomic power stations; and when he expects them to break even with conventional stations.

Mr. Wood

The cost per unit is expected to fall by about 40 per cent. between last year, when the station at Berkeley was commissioned, and 1966 when generation begins at Oldbury. On the second part of my hon. Friend's Question, I would refer him to the reply I gave my hon. Friend the Member for West Dorset (Mr. Wingfield Digby) on 10th December last year.
