asked Her Majesty's Government the number of persons diagnosed as suffering from psychopathic disorder who have been admitted to hospital under Part IV of the Mental Health Act 1959; the number of such persons who have subsequently been discharged either as the result of appeal to a Mental Health Review Tribunal or otherwise; and the number now detained under compulsory powers.

Between 1st November, 1960 and 31st December, 1961, 377 patients classified as suffering from psychopathic disorder without any other form of mental disorder were admitted to hospital under Part IV of the Mental Health Act; in addition a small number admitted informally were subsequently detained; some 370 were discharged from detention in hospital; 34 were detained at 31st December, 1961.
