10. Mrs. Butlerasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what regulation he has made requiring manufacturers of pesticides to state on containers of farm chemicals the toxic properties of the contents, including the danger to animals and birds.
§ Mr. Scott-HopkinsThe Poisons Rules, made by the Home Secretary under the Pharmacy and Poisons Act, provide for appropriate labelling of the more toxic chemicals, including those used in agriculture. In addition, as a condition for the clearance of any new agricultural chemical under the Notification of Pesticides Scheme, the manufacturer must undertake to include on the label of the product recommendations for its safe use, which include any necessary precautions for the protection of birds and animals.
