§ 71. Mr. Ledgerasked the Minister of Transport what evidence he has now obtained on the benefits that would accrue from a re-application of the 50 miles-per-hour speed limit this summer.
§ Mr. MarplesIn the last two years there was a reduction compared with 1959 of approximately 30 per cent, in fatal and serious casualties on the roads subject to the 50 m.p.h. limit. If the same limit were imposed on the same roads this year I should expect a similar benefit.
