§ Mr. BarberIt is estimated that wages and salaries paid in 1962 were £630 million or 4¼ per cent. higher than in 1961. Gross trading profits of companies are estimated to have fallen by £13, million, or rather more than a quarter 199W of 1 per cent., between the two years. Payments of ordinary dividends increased by £18 million or 1¾ per cent. Between the fourth quarter of 1961 and the fourth quarter of 1962 the increase in wages and salaries was £151 million or 4 per cent., while company profits increased by £70 million or 8¼ per cent. Corresponding quarterly figures for dividends are not available.
