Mallalieuasked the Minister of Power how many accidents due to the inability of workmen to distinguish between electricity, gas, and water pipes have been reported to him in the past five years; what proportion of these 170W have occurred to men working on pipes above ground; and whether he will seek power to lay down regulations to ensure at least that above-ground pipes for these services are readily distinguishable from each other.
§ Mr. PeytonNone. There is a British Standard Specification for identification of pipelines in buildings and industrial installations. There is no evidence to suggest that legislation on this matter is needed.
