HC Deb 27 March 1963 vol 674 cc166-7W
75. Mr. Lipton

asked the Lord Privy Seal when the British consulate in Madrid was approached with a view to arranging the return of Miss Christine Keeler to the United Kingdom; who made this approach and what action is being taken in the matter by the consulate.

Mr. Heath

On 24th March Her Majesty's Minister in Madrid received an anonymous telephone call, and later another call from Mr. Paul Mann, informing him of Miss Keeler's presence in Madrid. Mr. Mann was seen by the Minister and the Consul and given copies of the English newspapers which explained Miss Keeler's position. The next morning a local police station informed the Embassy that Miss Keeler had spent some hours there. The Consul visited the police station and at her own request Miss Keeler returned with him to the Embassy. She later left the Embassy for an unknown destination. No request was made to arrange Miss Keeler's return to this country.
